Atache Excellence Glycolic Serum is a low-pH glycolic acid treatment from the Excellence line, formulated to target dullness, uneven tone, expression lines and the look of pigmentation. The 30 ml bottle delivers a powerful AHA serum designed to be introduced gradually — the skin needs time to adjust to its renewal-stimulating action.

Glycolic acid is one of the most studied alpha-hydroxy acids in skincare. Derived from natural sources such as sugar cane and grapes, it breaks the bonds between dead surface cells, accelerating renewal and revealing fresher, smoother skin underneath. Used consistently, it visibly improves texture, tone and the look of fine lines.

How it works

At a low pH, glycolic acid penetrates the upper layers of the skin and dissolves the connections holding dead cells in place — speeding up the natural shedding process. New, healthier cells reach the surface faster, the skin looks more luminous, and over time fine lines and pigmentation appear softer. Because the action is powerful, the formula is best introduced gradually: every third night first, then every other night, then nightly as tolerance builds.

Start with one to two nights a week for the first two weeks. Build to every other night, then nightly only if the skin tolerates it without irritation. Always pair with daily SPF — exfoliated skin is more sensitive to UV.

Not in the same routine — both AHA and retinol increase skin turnover, and stacking them often causes irritation. Alternate evenings. Vitamin C used in the morning pairs well with glycolic acid used at night.

Some users see a brief uptick in surface congestion in the first two weeks as cell turnover accelerates. This typically settles within three to four weeks of consistent use.

It is important that you bear in mind that as it is formulated based on acids and has a low pH, to guarantee its action, Glycolic Serum is a powerful product, to which your skin may need to get used to (as occurs with the high concentrations of Retinol or Vitamin C). If you have sensitive skin, you should start with a gradual application to ensure that your skin responds adequately to the treatment. On the other hand, this product is indicated for night use and it is important that you avoid exposing yourself to the sun with the product or traces of it still on your face.

Apply Glycolic Serum 1 or 2 times a week, creating a thin layer on the face. Let it act for 10 minutes. Subsequently rinse with water, a damp towel or sponges, gently. If you have oily and/or thick skin and your skin asks for more action, you can leave the product on overnight and remove it the next morning (don’t forget that first you have to make sure little by little that your skin is not sensitive to the product or allow it to get used to it before prolonging its use).
